AWE-SUM! Lesson from a Two Year Old Guru

Many folks here at the GAC have heard the band tell the story about little man Jackson at his first concert at Eddie's Attic on April 16th, 2011.  For those fortunate enough to be within ear shot of Jackson, delighted in his enthusiasm and uninhibited verbalizations.  Between every song on the set, he yelled out with a quick and to the point—AWE-SUM! Awe-sum, Uncle G!

I find myself imitating this expression everyday, as if it were born to me.  Perhaps it is.  Perhaps it belongs to all of us, but as callus adults we don't allow ourselves the freedom to just let it out and rejoice in it.

We are told and we read in divine texts that opportunities to find deeper power, "awesome" power within ourselves come when life seems most challenging, and holding a negative attitude toward our challenging path is simply negativism toward life itself.  The wise ones remind us to say "yes" to it all and to take an attitude of acceptance and a posture of grace.  Si se puede.

The lesson:

Awe is what moves us forward.

I believe we are spiritual beings having a human experience, and life won't get any less human for Jackson as he becomes a man.  It won't for any of us either.  Before AWE-SUM, chopping wood, carrying water; after  AWE-SUM, chopping wood, carrying water.  Therefore, moving forward with any endeavor begins with a YES to what is.  The great privilege is in sharing the awe life inspires with others.
